Electric cars have a distinct advantage over combustion engine vehicles when it comes to drag racing: maximum torque at zero miles an hour, which means they don't need launch controls to go shooting off like a lighting bolt. They gear up in one direction, forward. But even that can't match the McLaren's pure horsepower and speed. The Tesla may be fast, but not McLaren fast.
