When Dale Wood races at the Sandown 500 next weekend, his Commodore will pay tribute to the Australian NASCAR series, which no longer exists.
Wood races supercars for Australian racing team Erebus Motorsport, and his livery will pay tribute to Jimmy Ellis' Chevrolet Lumina that he used at Calder Thunderdome in the 1990s. According to Motorsport, sponsor GB Galvanizing was a supporter of Ellis in the 90s, and Wood said he was impressed by how the car looks.
Erebus have taken some 90's NASCAR inspiration for the retro livery for the 99 car of Dale Wood and Chris Pither.

"GB Galvanizing have been in motorsport a long time and it's really nice to be able to celebrate their history this weekend," Wood said.
"I really like the car, it's very old school and different to what we have now with its clean lines. We've come so far from what the car designs were and my car has some color combinations you wouldn't think to put on a car, but with a bit of a modern touch it certainly works."
The Sandown 500 Retro Round begins on Friday, and it officially begins the enduro season.
