The first incident on Sept. 1, Sykes Jr. was in a vehicle that had been searched by police, where they said they discovered a backpack containing two guns and various drugs as reported by The Kansas City Star. One of the firearms was stolen a few days prior. During the interview process, Sykes Jr. denied any knowledge of the drugs or guns in question, the Star reported.

The detective noted in his report that while being asked about his address:

"Mr. Sykes leaned to one side of his chair and released a loud fart before answering with the address," said the detective. "Mr. Sykes continued to be flatulent and I ended the interview."

Only two months after the first incident, Sykes Jr, was pulled over, when police found marijuana, crack cocaine, and a .38-caliber revolver, according to court documents as reported by The Kansas City Star.
