The absolute best radio traffic from Formula 1 drivers during 2017

We've written many times about the sometimes funny and often profanity-laced radio chatter between teams and drivers in NASCAR. Lest you think their Formula 1 brethren are more refined, here are some of the better conversations that happened during the 2017 season, courtesy of a video posted to YouTube by none other than Formula 1 itself.

Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo is tagged from behind during the Hungarian Grand Prix. At first, he's not sure by whom, then realizes it's his own Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen.

"Was that who I think it was," asks Ricciardo.

"Yes," came the reply from his crew.

"(expletive) sore loser," was Ricciardo's response.  And then Riccardo proceeds to flip off Verstappen.

You can file this next one under "what?" Sebastian Vettel was hit with a 10-second penalty during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. When informed, Vettel seems incredulous, especially when he finds out it's for dangerous driving. Now I would argue any F1 racing is dangerous, but the video clearly shows Vettel is the ultimate tailgater. He still seems clueless.

"When did I do dangerous driving then?" asks Vettel. "Can you give me an explanation when I did dangerous driving?"

The response was great! "Nah, we'll speak after. Now, just keep your head down," his crew chief said.

Vettel also gives us another great one from the Grand Prix in Mexico. This one is a little hard to truly capture in print, I wouldn't do it justice, but the video is great.

Kimi Raikkonen was a little impatient with his crew as he was headed to the course in Azerbaijan. Asking for his gloves and steering wheel, the pitch in his voice goes noticeably higher.

"Gimme steering wheel.  Hey....hey....HEY!", yells Raikkonen. "Steering wheel! Someone tell him to give it to me."

These were just some of the better ones in 2017, but by no means all of them. The video is definitely worth a look.
