"Boaty McBoatface" is what you get when you ask the internet to name your polar research ship in an open submission contest. The Natural Environment Research Council quickly learned that the sarcastic nature of the internet can backfire on you real damn quick, as people took to the web to push "Boaty McBoatface" in favor of more vanilla names like "Endeavor" or "Falcon". We're hoping they listen to the voice of the people and vote-y for "Boaty".
