When the arresting cable an E-2C Hawkeye was using to land safely aboard the aircraft carrier the USS Eisenhower snapped, the pilot had to think quickly to prevent the plane from flying overboard into the ocean. Thankfully, his emergency training kicked in and he yanked back on the controls as soon as the plane dipped over the bow of the great ship, hammered down the throttle, and put the plane back in the air. Unfortunately, the snapped cabling on the deck injured eight crewmen as it flew back.
