While directing traffic around an accident that closed 4 lanes, 20 year veteran Montgomery County police officer Francis McDonough was struck by a drunk driver with a BAC of .22, nearly 3 times the legal limit. The officer was outraged and can be seen striking the car. Once the drunk stumbles out of the vehicle there is a clear confrontation with the officer. What happens next isn't entirely clear, but the drunk ends up face down on the pavement. The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the drunk driver, 58-year-old Reginal Eugene Taylor, was charged with a DUI and failure to control speed to avoid a collision.
