This Double Cab '50 Chevy Pickup Is a Custom-Built Beauty

Back in 2014, a YouTuber by the name of Lucas M demoed a custom-built 1950 five-window extended cab Chevy pickup truck, and no one could reach a consensus on whether they loved it or hated it.

This is NOT your average Chevy pickup! Hell, even accounting for all the classic car manufacturers out there, such as Ford, Toyota, Dodge, GMC, Nissan, Studebaker, Volkswagen, Volvo, Buick, Land Rover, Datsun, Chrysler, and Mercedes-Benz, we don't think we've ever seen a custom job like this!

The Custom Old Truck

On the one hand, this truck is a classic five-window, which means that it's inherently awesome. On the other hand, three five-windows (which we don't know the previous state of) went into creating this custom Chevy truck, which feels like a waste when you could have three restored five-windows.

This certainly isn't a historically accurate portrayal of a five-window either, but, then again, it also doesn't try to be. This truck features quality of life upgrades like a vintage radio with an iPod connection, automatic transmission, and A/C. Are these nice to have or inauthentic? We couldn't tell you for sure, but we're intrigued!

Other details also make it hard to decide whether to love or hate this Frankenstein's monster. The Cadillac steering wheel, for instance, gives one mixed emotions. In addition, this "five-window" is actually a seven-window stepside, including two extra windows for the extended cab.

These two boxy windows definitely detract from the natural flow of a 1950 five-window, but we still can't say for sure whether they add or subtract from the overall aesthetic. The dark window tint certainly is not inline with classic old truck styles, either.

What We Love About This Custom Old Chevy Truck

There are a few things that we know for sure we love about this classic truck. The rebuilt 327 engine really purrs. It founds beautiful, even over an iPhone video. The leather interior is quite nice and the iconic five-window dump bed is perfectly preserved or restored. According to the video, this custom pickup is four-wheel drive. If this is true, we certain approve!
