A 3d printer in the hands of a gearhead leads to some of the coolest creations we've ever seen. Case in point, this fully functional Chevy Camaro V8 LS3 model. Every part, with the exception of a couple metal bearings and fasteners, was modeled in CAD and printed from more than 2kg of plastic filament on a RepRap prusa i3s. It's amazing what you can do with a couple computer models and a little PLA plastic.
