When you're coming to a bridge that either opens or extends you should ALWAYS treat it like some kind of safety hazard. You have no idea how many people fall victim to completely avoidable accidents like this. Here's some footage of a car that must have ignored every warning that the bridge was not yet extended when it tried to cross. They not only fail to make it but manage to crush their front end on the other half of the extending bridge before hitting the water!
