In 1984, the Lanica Delta S4 prototype Abarth was Italian engineering's answer to some of the fastest cars in the still burgeoning sport of rally-racing, which was dominated by the Escort and the Golf GTI. These performance engineers crafted a car that was not only powerful and competitive, but imposing, dangerous-looking, and loud as hell. Its high-pitched whine tore down the track with an unmistakable sound, so that if you heard it coming up behind you, you know who was doing the passing.
