Americans have always been dreamers. No matter how far we have come, we always believe we can do bigger and better than ever before. Throughout the years of automotive history, we have continued to innovate and experiment. Cars have come such a long way in such a short amount of time.

As wild as some of our imaginations may be, technology has both kept up with and exceeded our expectations for the future. We may not be in The Jetsons age yet, but we aren't far from it. We have reached a point where few things are impossible with time, effort, and passion. The reality of our future has become far greater than anything we could have ever imagined.

Here is a perfect example of just how far we've come:

Cars of the Future

In 1948, this clip showed what many believed to be the future of the automotive industry. The clip produced by popular mechanics and Jerry Fairbanks featured three different vehicles that a team decided would be likely to appear in the future. It included a three-wheeler, a huge vehicle that resembled an aircraft, and a sportier vehicle with aircraft technology. It is clear from the video that the producers thought that aircrafts would heavily influence the next generation of automobiles. We may not have cars that include aircraft features yet, but we haven't done too shabby in recent years.

In modern times, electric vehicles have been drastically changing the landscape of American automobiles. We have found a better alternative to fossil fuel and are incorporating that technology into many vehicles. We also have developed self-driving and self-parking vehicles. We have all sorts of sensors and safety features in our vehicles that were beyond our imagination a few decades ago. Imagine telling your grandpa that one day his car would tell him when his tire pressure was low in 1948.

If this short video proves anything, it's that the future is usually brighter than anything we can fathom. New science and technology have allowed us to increase our understanding of automobiles and how to build them to be optimal. Companies like Tesla are pushing the industry forward and continuously innovating. The entire industry has had to respond as a result to keep up with the times, and the results have been magnificent.
