The NASCAR Cup Series season continues with a trip to Iowa Speedway as the battle for one of three remaining playoff spots continues.
This Sunday's race marks only the second time in series history that Cup Series teams have competed at the .875-mile oval track in Newton, Iowa. Ryan Blaney is the defending winner.
This week marks the beginning of the NBC Sports portion of the Cup Series schedule. USA Network will air its first race of the season while Max will continue to be the home of the exclusive in-car cameras. Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will provide radio coverage for the race.
Cup Series at Iowa Speedway race information
Weather: The WeatherUnderground forecast calls for sunny skies with a few afternoon clouds. A high of 76 degrees and no chance of rain at the time of the Cup Series race.
Green flag time: The grand marshal will give the command to fire engines at 3:38 p.m. ET. The starter will wave the green flag at 3:47 p.m. ET.
Starting lineup: Chase Briscoe won the pole for Sunday's Cup Series race. William Byron qualified second.
Pre-race: The garage opens at 12:30 p.m. ET. Driver introductions will take place at 2:50 p.m. ET. Pre-race coverage begins with "Countdown to Green" on USA Network at 3 p.m. ET. Race coverage continues on USA Network at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The invocation will be at 3:30 p.m. ET. The national anthem will be performed at 3:31 p.m. ET.
Stages: The race will consist of three stages. The first stage ends at Lap 70. The second stage ends at Lap 210. The scheduled end of the race is Lap 350.
Playoff picture: The Cup Series drivers have completed 22 races. Thirteen drivers have secured their spots in the playoffs by winning at least one race.
Atlanta winner Chase Elliott is the points leader after 22 races. He leads Daytona 500 winner William Byron by four points.
The rest of the top five in the Cup Series standings includes three-time winner Kyle Larson, four-time winner Denny Hamlin, and three-time winner Christopher Bell. Shane van Gisbergen, who sits 27th in points, is the only other driver with three wins.
The rest of the race winners this season include Ryan Blaney, Chase Briscoe, Bubba Wallace, Joey Logano, Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric and Josh Berry.
Tyler Reddick has a 138-point advantage over the cutline. Alex Bowman sits 63 points above the cutline. Chris Buescher is the final driver in the playoff on points. He is 42 points ahead of teammate Ryan Preece.
Past winners: Only one driver has celebrated a Cup Series win at Iowa Speedway. Blaney won last year's inaugural event after leading 201 of 350 laps. Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Buescher, Blaney, Erik Jones, Bell, Byron, Preece, and Briscoe have all won Xfinity races at the .875-mile track.
Austin Dillon, John Hunter Nemechek, Byron, Blaney, and Jones have all won Truck Series races at the track.
