A crown jewel-winning Jamie McMurray scheme returns to Indy

For the second time this season, a classic crown jewel-winning Jamie McMurray scheme will return to the track. This time, it will be at the site of one of his biggest wins.

The orange and camouflage Bass Pro Shops scheme will return to the track during the July 26 Xfinity Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It will be on the No. 1 Chevrolet of JR Motorsports driver Carson Kvapil.

The main differences between the two schemes is that Clarience Technologies logos will be on the sides of Kvapil's car. McMurray's crown jewel-winning scheme had Tracker Boats logos behind the door number.

The original version of this scheme is the one that McMurray used to win two crown jewel events in the same season. He kicked off the year by winning the Daytona 500 with the Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Chevrolet.

The driver-turned-analyst then led 16 laps at Indianapolis Motor Speedway before winning the Brickyard 400. He also won the fall race at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the Bass Pro Shops scheme.

The upcoming trip to Indianapolis Motor Speedway is not the first time that Kvapil has showcased this tribute scheme as a rookie Xfinity Series driver. He previously used it during Throwback Weekend at Darlington Raceway.

Kvapil qualified sixth for the Xfinity race at The Lady in Black. He raced inside the top 10 and crossed the line fifth overall. This was his second top-five finish of the season his first since the opener at Daytona International Speedway.

"Honored to run this one again," Kvapil said about the scheme on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "Ready to recreate some history with this one at Indy!"

Kvapil will use the crown jewel-winning scheme as he continues to seek a secure spot in the playoffs, provided he does not win this weekend at Dover Motor Speedway. He has come close multiple times this season, and he posted a pair of runner-up finishes at Bristol Motor Speedway and EchoPark Speedway.
