Kris Wright, Our Motorsports part ways after 18 races

A change is taking place at Our Motorsports. The team and driver Kris Wright have chosen to part ways midway through the NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

The updated NASCAR entry list for Dover Motor Speedway provided the first indication that Wright was no longer with the team. The Pennsylvania native then confirmed the news with a statement.

"I appreciated the opportunity to work with Our Motorsports and to compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season," Wright said.

"While I'm stepping away from the No. 5 car, I'm excited for what lies ahead and thankful for all I've learned during my time in the Xfinity Series."

Wright added that he will continue seeking motorsports opportunities. He will announce any news as it happens on his social media channels.

Wright took over the No. 5 for this season after competing full-time in the ARCA Menards Series last season. He replaced the departing Anthony Alfredo starting with the opener at Daytona International Speedway.

The season has not progressed as the team and Wright likely hoped. He failed to finish four of the first 18 races and he finished 25th or worse in 14 starts. His lone top-10 finish took place at Martinsville Speedway as he crossed the line in ninth place.

Wright and the No. 5 team also missed the Xfinity Series race on the streets of Chicago after 40 cars showed up for 38 spots on the starting grid.

With Wright out of the No. 5 Chevrolet starting this weekend, Our Motorsports will turn to a veteran driver for Dover Motor Speedway. Kaz Grala, who has 78 Xfinity starts to his name, will take over the No. 5 Chevrolet at the Monster Mile.

Grala will make his second start of the season -- his first with Our Motorsports -- and his fifth career start at Dover with the fifth different team. His previous best finish at the track was 12th in 2023 while driving for Sam Hunt Racing.
