When 17-year-old driver Todd Gilliland hits the track Friday at Dover International Speedway, he will have the opportunity to clinch the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Championship.
After that race, he'll head west for the K&N Pro Series West, and he'll have the chance to clinch that championship over the next three races.
Gilliland is the points leader in both series, and he can possibly win both championships within a matter of weeks. Heading into Dover this weekend, Gilliland leads Harrison Burton by eight points. Each driver has four wins this season, and they've both finished in the top 10 in every race this year.
If Gilliland finishes third or better at Dover, he'll capture the championship. If Burton wins the race, he'll take home the crown.

"I'm really confident about our Dover package for our Napa Toyota," Gilliland said via the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. "It's going to be really busy, especially with it being the finale for the East. Right after Dover, we'll get busy focusing on the West and Meridian.
"It's been super busy, but I feel like it's made me better as a driver."
Gilliland has never competed at Dover, so it will be an entirely new experience for him. After the race, he'll fly to Meridian, Idaho for a West Series race. He currently has a five-point lead on Chris Eggleson with three races remaining.
Gilliland is the defending champion at Meridian, and he has six wins in the West Series this year.
Anything can happen in one race, but Gilliland is confident entering the race at Dover, and he has the chance to accomplish an incredible feat if he wins the title in both series.
