In addition to the much anticipated replacement for the Supra and current Celica-level GT86, Toyota wants a third full time sports car as a spiritual successor to the MR2. Evo.co reports that Toyota wants to have the lightweight sports car, "As soon as possible," to complete their trinity of fun.
While they are producing a hot hatch Yaris, Toyota considers it a special car and not a part of the three dedicated sports cars they envision. Whatever this MR2 replacement is, they better not back away from the mid rear layout that we came to love.
