Two championship contenders are off to a bad start at New Hampshire

A pair of championship contenders are off to a bad start in preparation for Sunday's playoff race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Martin Truex Jr. and Jamie McMurray were each docked 30 minutes of practice time for failing three different inspections before last weekend's race at Chicagoland.

As a result, they'll both miss practice time on Saturday during the final practice session prior to Sunday's race.

Truex eventually won the race at Chicagoland after dominating the final stage.

Saturday's practice time is 50 minutes, so Truex and McMurray will miss over half of the scheduled time.

Rookies Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez were both docked 15 minutes during the final practice because their cars failed two inspections each before the race at Chicagoland.

Saturday's practice is scheduled from 11:30 to 12:20 ET. The race is Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
