The No. 15 AM Racing Ford Mustang will have a new driver this weekend as Joey Logano replaces Hailie Deegan.
Logano, who won last weekend's Cup Series race at Nashville Superspeedway, will join AM Racing for the Xfinity Series street race in Chicago on July 6 (3:30 p.m. ET on NBC). Klutch Vodka will serve as Logano's primary partner for the race.
"The level of competition in the Xfinity Series is as competitive as it's ever been," said AM Racing team president Wade Moore in a statement. "It is our goal at AM Racing to field a competitive race team through our technical alliance with Stewart-Haas Racing and provide any of our drivers the best equipment and opportunity to be successful on track each weekend.
"With that being said, we haven't had the success on track that we were hoping for in the first half of the season. When the opportunity to have Joey in the car at Chicago became a possibility, we felt we needed to take advantage of the knowledge and feedback that a two-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion could provide to our teams' growth."
Moore continued and said that AM Racing plans to take the information provided by Logano and use it to build more competitive race cars for the second half of the season.
AM Racing is in the midst of its second full Xfinity season. Brett Moffitt was the driver during the 2023 season. He posted one top-five finish and nine top-10s in the 33 races.
Deegan replaced Moffitt ahead of the 2024 season, her first in Xfinity. She has an average finish of 26.8 in the first 17 races and a season-best finish of 12th at Talladega Superspeedway.
AM Racing made a change after the first 12 races of the season in pursuit of improved performance. The team replaced crew chief Joe Williams with Matt Lucas, who served as the competition director. Deegan's best finish since the crew chief swap is 25th at Iowa.
Logano, who has not started an Xfinity race since 2019, has extensive success in NASCAR's second-tier series. He has finished top 10 in 143 of his 176 career starts and he has won 30 races. This includes the 2015 season when Logano won four of the 11 races he started. The two-time Cup Series champion has also won the pole 36 times.
