Jeff Gordon has only been away from racing a very short time, since 2015, and has been in the Fox broadcast booth since then. But Gordon, at 46, says TV might not be in his future.

His future could lay with Hendrick Motorsports.

In remarks reported by Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal, Gordon said he's continually having talks with Rick Hendrick about his role with the team, and if it increases, he can't continue to do TV. His TV deal with Fox has one more season to run.

I have one  more year on my Fox contract, and I don't know exactly what's going to happen past that. I've really enjoyed it; it's been a lot of fun, very educational; to  me, it's the best way to step out of driving, because it's enough pressure to make you work hard at it but it's also an adrenaline rush because it's live TV. And I've also learned a lot about the spot and people in the sport. But ... if my role here increases (at Hendrick Motorsports), its hard to do both. I can do both right now at the level that I'm at...Me and Rick (Hendrick) are constantly talking about the future and what that looks like but no decisions have been made.

Gordon has a lifetime deal with Hendrick and is an equity partner with the team. As a driver, he's won four championships and 92 races over his career, so it stands to  reason he could have bigger role at Hendrick.
