Formula 1 driver Sebastian Vettel is a little bit happier tonight knowing he's not going to get dinged for a collision last weekend at the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Vettel and Lance Stroll collided on the cool-down lap after the race. The damage to Vettel's Ferrari was thought to include the gearbox, which could have meant a costly grid penalty. Watching the video, you can hear the anger in Vettel's voice, telling Motorsport.com afterwards that there was no reason for the crash.

"I think he was looking at his [steering] wheel, Vettel said. "I gave him enough room. But it was too late, I was there already, and then there was contact. Completely unnecessary. He just didn't look and decided to pick up some rubber."

Vettel feared having to replace the gearbox would cost him a five-place grid penalty on his next start. Motorsports.com reports Ferrari flew the gearbox back to the factory in Maranello to be evaluated, and there determined that there wasn't any damage done.

This gives Vettel and his team the all clear to reinstall the gearbox in time for the final free practice ahead of qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix.
