Ford SuperVan 4.2 tops Goodwood Festival times

Ford Performance has celebrated another big moment courtesy of the SuperVan 4.2, this time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

According to the festival, the SuperVan 4.2 was the fastest during the Timed Shootout Final. Romain Dumas was behind the wheel of the electric van as he completed the hill climb in 43.9 seconds.

This was faster than Subaru's new monster, Project Midnight, which completed the climb in 46.1 seconds. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup was the third-fastest during the festival. It completed the Timed Shootout Final in 48.1 seconds.

"I was pushing quite hard, I have to say," Dumas said about his third Timed Shootout win after exiting the SuperVan 4.2. "A lot of fun again, like always."

The SuperVan beat out a variety of vehicles to score the win. The list included an F5000 Eagle, Travis Pastrana's Subaru GL Family Huckster, and a March-Cosworth 741 among many others.

The early indication was that the Timed Shootout would come down to a battle between Speed and Dumas. They had the two best times during Saturday's session.

Speed completed his first climb in Project Midnight with a time of 45.1. Dumas was a hair faster in the SuperVan 4.2 with a time of 45.0. The two drivers continued the battle during the Timed Shootout, but Dumas ultimately took the win.

The SuperVan 4.2 has been the chariot Dumas has driven to great success. Last year, he set a record during the Pikes Peak Hillclimb while driving the electric van. Back in February, the veteran driver set a trio of lap records at the 6.2-kilometer Mount Panorama circuit.

Dumas completed his lap with a time of 1:56.3247. He was faster than every driver in the Australian Supercars Top 10 Shootout. The SuperVan left the track with the records for the quickest closed-wheel vehicle, electric vehicle, and commercial vehicle.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed Timed Shootout win also marks Dumas' second victory this summer for Ford Performance. He scored the outright win during June's Pikes Peak Hillclimb with a time of eight minutes and 53.553 seconds. Dumas was behind the wheel of the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck as he raced up the mountain course.
