Charlotte Motor Speedway is already one of the most unique tracks in the NASCAR rotation, and next year's version of the track will include a new challenge for drivers.
Track officials announced plans for its new "Roval" course that will debut in the fall of 2018. It will be a combination of a road course and a traditional oval track.

The original proposal would've made the track entirely a road course, but teams weren't thrilled with the idea since it would create extra costs for them for just one playoff race.
Under the current playoff structure, there are no road courses. So Charlotte's Roval concept will at least give drivers a different look and challenge other than a traditional oval track.
The Roval is 2.4 miles long, and it has 13 turns. The design looks very cool and unique, and it will certainly be a challenge for playoff drivers in 2018.
