ARCA fills Olympic-sized racing gap on Saturday

The top three national NASCAR series are inactive for the next couple of weeks due to coverage of the Paris Olympics, but the ARCA Menards Series will still provide some racing action.

Some of the top drivers in ARCA will head to Indiana on Saturday, July 27, to compete at the .555-mile Salem Speedway. They will take part in a busy, one-day schedule that includes practice at 3:45 p.m. ET, qualifying at 5:15 p.m. ET, and a 200-lap at 8 p.m. ET.

FS1 will provide coverage for the ARCA Menards Series race as 25 drivers compete for the win.

Jesse Love won last season's ARCA Menards Series race at Salem Speedway, one of his 10 wins last season while driving for Venturini Motorsports. He also won at Salem in 2021.

Love, who now competes in Xfinity for Richard Childress Racing, will not be in the lineup to defend his win. However, last season's runner-up Andres Perez will be back to pursue his first win in the series.

Perez currently leads the ARCA standings after the first 10 races. He has posted four top-five finishes and nine top-10s, headlined by a season-best runner-up at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park last weekend.

The entry list for Saturday's race also includes Joe Gibbs Racing's William Sawalich. The up-and-coming driver is tied for the series lead with three wins this season. Sawalich finished sixth in last season's race at Salem Speedway.

One name that will be absent from the entry list is Connor Zilisch, who also has three wins this season. In his place will be Corey Day. The dirt racer who has won five High Limit Racing races and one World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series race this season will now make his ARCA Menards Series debut on Saturday night.

Day, who has sponsorship from HendrickCars.com, will make three starts in ARCA this season. He return at Bristol Motor Speedway on Sept. 19 and Kansas Speedway on Sept. 27.
