Lamborghini Huracan Performante Features Groundbreaking Active Aero Technology

The 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante is the absolute pinnacle of technology and speed from the Italian supercar company. Motor Trend was able to get their hands on a camouflaged prototype for a test, and it blew them away. The car has more power than its predecessor along with less weight, better tires, tuned suspension and tweaked electronic aides. These improvements take a back seat, however, to Lamborghini's new active aerodynamic system that they're calling: Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA). In a totally new approach to active aero, Lamborghini ditches the slow, heavy hydraulic systems in favor of electric motors controlling flaps to improve response.

Furthermore, Motor Trend describes the most unique aspect of the ALA system:

"Depending on which direction the Performante is turning, either flap can close in 0.2 second to create aero vectoring. Turn right, for instance, and the right flap closes while the left flap opens. With the right flap closed, downforce is exerted on the right rear wheel while the left wheel is looser and free to rotate in an arc."

This clever aero does nothing to slow rumors of the Lambo challenging the production record Nürburgring lap time of 6:57:00, which is currently held by Porsche's 918 Spyder.
