Xfinity at Talladega: Channel, weather, schedule


LINCOLN, Ala. -- The NASCAR Xfinity Series teams take on Talladega Superspeedway, the biggest track on the Cup Series schedule, for a Saturday afternoon race.

The ARCA Menards Series will also be in action to kick off a busy racing weekend in Alabama.

Saturday's race marks the 38th time that the Xfinity Series has competed at Talladega Superspeedway since Ernie Irvan won the inaugural race in 1992. This is the first of two trips to Talladega this season for the second-tier series.

Weather: The WeatherUnderground forecast calls for cloudy skies throughout the day with the chance of a stray thunderstorm. A high of 84 degrees and a 15% chance of rain.

Green flag time: The command to fire engines will be at 3:58 p.m. ET. The green flag will wave at 4:10 p.m. ET.

Pre-race: The Xfinity Series garage opens at 1 p.m. ET. Driver introductions will take place at 3:20 p.m. ET. Pre-race coverage begins with "NASCAR Countdown Live" on CW at 3 p.m. ET. Race coverage continues on CW at 4 p.m. ET.

The invocation will take place at 3:50 p.m. ET. The national anthem will be performed at 3:51 p.m. ET.

Stages: The race will consist of three stages. The first stage ends at Lap 25. The second stage ends at Lap 50. The scheduled end of the race is Lap 113.

Playoff picture: Six drivers have locked up spots in the playoffs by winning races. Justin Allgaier and Austin Hill lead the series with two wins each. Jesse Love, Connor Zilisch, Brandon Jones, and Sammy Smith each have one win this season.

Harrison Burton is the driver right on the playoff cutline. He has 243 points. He is two points ahead of Daniel Dye, the first driver out of the playoffs.

Past winners: Four drivers in the Xfinity Series lineup have won at Talladega Superspeedway. Jeb Burton won in 2021 and '23. Jesse Love and Sammy Smith split last season's races. Aric Almirola won in 2017.
