NASCAR announced before Saturday's qualifying session that the No. 44 of Alpha Prime Racing had received a penalty. According to a statement, the team made unapproved adjustments to the car after passing inspection. The No. 44 went through inspection again and failed.
As a result, Poole will have to start Saturday's race at the rear of the field. He will then serve a pass-through penalty after taking the green flag. The No. 44 team will lose pit stall selection for next weekend's race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The front row for Saturday's race will feature two drivers trying to lock themselves into the playoffs. Creed has never won at the Xfinity level, and he has 10 runner-up finishes to his name. He is 73 points above the cutline.
Jones has five Xfinity wins on his resume, but he has not visited victory lane since the 2022 season. He is 14th in the Xfinity standings, and he is 67 points below the playoff cutline with eight races remaining in the regular season.
The green flag for Saturday's race at Pocono will wave at 3:05 p.m. ET. The command to fire engines will be at 2:54 p.m. ET. USA Network will provide coverage for Saturday's race.
