Tricon Garage bolsters crew chief lineup for remaining 2024 races

Tricon Garage has bolstered its crew chief lineup ahead of the race at Milwaukee Mile Speedway.

Jason Burdett will join the organization while taking over as crew chief of the No. 15 team. He will finish out the season while working with Tanner Gray.

Jerame Donley, who has spent the last two seasons atop the No. 15 pit box, will still remain with the organization. Tricon Garage remains high on him as a key piece moving forward. Donley will continue to travel with the team as his focus shifts to engineering responsibilities.

Burdett started this season in the NASCAR Cup Series. He joined Legacy Motor Club and served as the crew chief for Jimmie Johnson's part-time No. 84 Toyota Camry XSE. However, he and Legacy Motor Club parted ways during the two-week Olympic break.

Burdett has spent the most time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, primarily with Justin Allgaier and JR Motorsports.

The veteran crew chief joined Regan Smith during the 2015 season and celebrated two wins with the future Fox Sports analyst/pit reporter. He then joined forces with Allgaier in 2016 and remained atop the No. 7 pit box through the 2022 season.

Allgaier, Burdett, and the No. 7 team celebrated 16 wins together during this stretch. They finished fourth or better in the championship standings five times.

Burdett's final season with JR Motorsports was in 2023. He took over the No. 9 team as Brandon Jones moved to the organization from Joe Gibbs Racing. The season did not play out as they expected as Jones missed the playoffs after posting three top-five finishes and 10 top-10s.

Burdett will now spend the next seven races working with Gray, a driver who has contended for wins throughout his Truck Series tenure but has yet to make an appearance in the playoffs.

Gray has competed full-time in the series since 2020. He has delivered 10 top-five finishes and 26 top-10s to the David Gilliland-owned organization. This includes top-three finishes at Michigan, Bristol, Las Vegas, and Martinsville. His best finish was second at Daytona last season.
