Toyota has yet to take on the Repco Supercars Championship, but it is already expanding its presence after inking a multi-year agreement.
According to a press release, Toyota Australia will join forces with Brad Jones Racing, starting with the 2026 season. Brad Jones Racing will field four V8-powered GR Supras while becoming the second Toyota-affiliated team on the grid.
Walkinshaw Andretti United previously announced that it would switch its two entries from Ford to Toyota Australia for the 2026 season. With Brad Jones Racing joining the lineup, Toyota will now have six drivers competing in each round.
"This is a massive moment in the history of BJR. I am very excited for what the future holds and to work closely with Toyota," said team owner Brad Jones in a statement.
"Through this whole process, Toyota have been incredible to work with, every step of the way, I've been so impressed with their team and their approach to Supercars.
"This type of upheaval is not a light decision to make, and I've taken my time in doing so, but I've been reassured time and time again that this is the right direction for BJR. I cannot wait to see our team roll out four GR Supras in 2026, it's going to be a 'pinch me' moment."
Toyota previously announced its move to the Repco Supercars Championship in September 2024. The OEM said at the time that it would partner with Walkinshaw Andretti United to field a minimum of four entries in 2026.
According to the previous announcement, the Supras will use the 2UR-GSE all-aluminum, quad-cam V8 engine. The production variants of this engine appear in a variety of Lexus vehicles. This engine also powered the HiLux that won Dakar in 2019.
The Repco Supercars Championship lineup will undergo extensive changes ahead of the 2026 season. Walkinshaw Andretti United and Brad Jones Racing joining forces with Toyota Australia are only the latest examples.
Back in January, Ford Performance announced a partnership with Triple Eight Engineering. The championship-winning team will begin fielding Ford Mustangs in 2026.
With these three teams changing manufacturers, the racing series will no longer solely feature Chevrolets and Fords. Starting in 2026, it will have six Toyotas, eight Chevrolets, and 10 Fords.
