Team Penske inks multi-year, multi-series sponsor extension

Team Penske has inked a multi-year extension with primary sponsor PPG, which covers multiple drivers across multiple series.

According to a press release, Team Penske will continue its 40-year partnership with PPG as the company serves as a primary sponsor to the organization's IndyCar Series program and as an associate partner to the NASCAR program.

Additionally, PPG will continue to serve as the title sponsor of the Brickyard 400 for the next five years.

"Our relationship with PPG was really one of the first business-to-business partnerships of its kind in motorsports," said Team Penske President Tim Cindric in a statement.

"It began over 40 years ago and we are really proud of everything we have accomplished together on and off the race track. Their commitment to motorsports has been far-reaching. We are looking forward to continuing to wear their colors in the winner's circle for years to come."

Back-to-back Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden will have PPG as the primary sponsor on his No. 2 Chevrolet in 2024 and beyond. Two-time IndyCar champion Will Power will have PPG as an associate partner on his No. 12 Chevrolet. Six-time race winner Scott McLaughlin will have PPG as an associate partner on his No. 3 Chevrolet.

PPG will continue to serve as an associate partner on Austin Cindric's No. 2 Ford, Ryan Blaney's No. 12 Ford, and Joey Logano's No. 22 Ford.

The site of the announcement, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is fitting for multiple reasons. Roger Penske owns the historic track, as well as the NTT IndyCar Series.

"For more than four decades, PPG has been one of the most trusted, innovative, and dedicated partners in motorsports," Penske said in a statement. "We look forward to building on our long-term relationship with PPG at Team Penske for many years to come.

"We are also excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to feature PPG and their commitment to enhancing our communities across IndyCar and at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway."

The other reason the location is fitting is that Cindric has celebrated a win with PPG as his primary sponsor, albeit in a different series. He won the 2021 Xfinity Series road course race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after leading 29 of the 62 laps.
