Jimmie Johnson could be in bad shape after this Talladega practice incident

Practice is suppose to be just that -- practice. But in Friday it turned problematic for Jimmie Johnson.

His No. 48 spun out during Talladega practice, going through the infield grass, and he told his crew chief Chad Knaus he heard something break in the left rear.

Based on the video, he radioed in that the left rear tire went "boom."

"When I was going into turn 3 the tire just completely let go," Johnson reportedly told Knaus.

The car was towed back to the garage to  evaluate the damage, but Johnson doesn't think he will have to go to a backup.

We'll most likely know more later.
