The Sonoma Raceway Cup Series starting lineup will feature a Red Bull car at the front of the pack after Shane van Gisbergen won the pole.
The New Zealand native completed the weekend pole win sweep by posting a lap of 74.594 seconds. He also won the pole for Saturday's Xfinity Series race. This is his fourth career pole win and his third of the season.
Van Gisbergen also started from the pole last weekend in Chicago before winning the race, and he started from the pole in Mexico City before winning the race.

This weekend marks the first time since the 2011 season that a Red Bull-sponsored car won the pole for a Cup Series race. Kasey Kahne previously achieved this feat during a trip to Atlanta Motor Speedway.
"I'm shaking," van Gisbergen told TNT Sports' Alan Cavanna after qualifying. "That was pretty full-on, but I'm stoked. I'm stoked to have Red Bull on the car and thank you to Trackhouse and Chevy. Amazing car.
"We weren't very good in practice, but new tires fixed it. So hopefully, we can be good in the race, but what a cool day."
Chase Briscoe qualified second with a lap of 74.844 seconds. This marks his first time starting inside the top 10 at Sonoma Raceway in the Cup Series.
I don’t know about yall but I think @shanevg97 should start dead last at all road course races. Be fun to watch. 😂

Briscoe was followed by William Byron (75.025), Ross Chastain (75.087), AJ Allmendinger (75.120), Ty Gibbs (75.128), Ryan Blaney (75.134), Tyler Reddick (75.176), Alex Bowman (75.233), and Christopher Bell (75.243).
Kyle Larson, the defending winner of the Sonoma Raceway Cup race, qualified 11th with a time of 75.254 seconds. Zane Smith joined him on the sixth row with a time of 75.278 seconds.
Ty Dillon, who is now in the third round of the in-season challenge, had a close call during qualifying. He slid off the track after locking up the tires and nearly went head-on into a tire barrier. He saved the car and kept going. His previous qualifying time of 76.033 seconds was good enough for 26th.
Only one driver failed to complete a lap during qualifying. Katherine Legge never attempted to post a time in the Live Fast Motorsports entry. She will still make the race as the lone driver in an Open entry.
