Saturday Xfinity, Cup schedule at Watkins Glen International

Two of the national NASCAR series will take on Watkins Glen International on Saturday, Sept. 14.

Xfinity Series teams will practice, qualify, and race at the New York road course. Cup Series teams will practice and qualify in advance of Sunday's playoff race.

Cup teams will have an extended practice session while adapting to the course changes and the updated Goodyear tires implemented for this weekend. Each group will have two, 20-minute sessions instead of one to see if the tires deliver three seconds of falloff as Goodyear anticipates.

Saturday marks the 30th time Xfinity teams have competed at Watkins Glen. Sam Mayer is the defending winner, and he will face off with other past Xfinity winners at the Glen. This list includes Ty Gibbs and Joey Logano, who will both make one-off starts.

Saturday also marks the Xfinity Series debut of Connor Zilisch, who will drive full-time for JR Motorsports next season. Zilisch has some experience at the track considering that he finished second in last season's ARCA Menards Series race.
