NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Ryan Ellis has branched out. He has joined forces with country music trio July Moon for a music video for the song "The Highway."
The video, which was released ahead of the Texas Motor Speedway weekend, features Ellis in one of the starring roles. He portrays the significant other of one of July Moon's members. The couple appears to struggle with financial issues, which causes the country musician to leave the home with her guitar in tow.
Ellis, who drives the No. 71 Chevrolet for DGM Racing, stays behind and works on a classic Chevrolet. The couple ultimately reunites as they climb into the Chevrolet SS and head out for a drive on the highway.
This visual storyline fits with the song's theme. A press release says that "The Highway" explores the challenges between chasing a dream and discovering romance.
July Moon is a rising country music trio from Nashville. The group consists of Piper Bateman, Page Mackenzie, and Braelyn Watt. The group wrote "The Highway" alongside Cassidy Daniels, Vanessa Olivarez, and Chris Rafetto.
The country group formed in 2021, and they released their debut six-song EP in 2023. July Moon took on a headlining tour while also landing support slots with Tyler Farr, The Wallflowers, Josh Ross, and Lee Greenwood. They also performed at Darius Rucker's Riverfront Revival, the Master Musician Festival, and the Key West Songwriters Festival.
With the release of "The Highway" behind them, July Moon's members will prepare for their first trip to Europe. Ellis, however, will continue with the NASCAR Xfinity Series season. His May schedule will feature Texas Motor Speedway this weekend, Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24, and Nashville Superspeedway on May 31.
"On behalf of Living Proof Recordz, we are elated about July Moon and their new music video 'The Highway,'" said Walter Jones, Executive VP of Living Proof Recordz LLC, in a statement.
"We believe in this video as being an exemplary project that represents the essence of making a great music video. We also want to thank Ryan Ellis and DGM Racing for their support in coming on board to making this video a stellar project."
