A cup series star crashed the Xfinity playoffs at Dover

Until the new limitations on Cup series drivers in Xfinity series races takes effect next year, there is nothing stopping Cup drivers from getting in a little extra racing, even during the playoffs.

That's exactly what Ryan Blaney did at Dover. Heading into the first elimination race of the playoffs in the Cup series, Blaney decided to run in the Xfinity race and ended up taking the checkered flag. He didn't keep it, of course, as he gave it to a young fan on the other side of the fence, according to an AP report via KANSAS.com.

He also skipped the post race burnout, which oddly reflected how little a win at that level meant for his career overall. As the highest finishing Xfinity series regular, Xfinity playoff driver Justin Allgaier had plenty to celebrate, but a win would have undoubtedly made the result much sweeter.
