An experienced driver teaching a high performance driving course crashed during an event in Georgia and was killed, while another instructor was seriously injured in a wreck at the Roebling Road Raceway.
Driver Robert Charles Wilson, 70, died and another man in the car, Patrick Wilson (no relation) was airlifted to a hospital.
Wilson was participating in the two-day Porsche Club of America two-day event. He was a longtime member of the PCA and served as president of one of its regions, according to Jalopnik.
Jalopnik reported that the driver lost control of his a 2001 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 around Turn 1 and hit a berm. A person who said he witnessed the crash wrote on the website rennlist that the crash happened at speeds of about 100 miles per hour.
After the wreck, the second day was cancelled.
Roebling is a 2.02-mile, 9-turn road course, according to its website.
