She's not nearly as successful (on the track) as the other free agent drivers, but Danica Patrick is certainly top of mind for many NASCAR fans.
Now, the word in the racing world is Patrick's best shot may be the No. 27 at Richard Childress Racing. This tweet by Adam Stern of the Sports Business Journal reiterated that point.

Childress has an open ride because Paul Menard is leaving for Wood Brothers Racing and the No. 21 Ford. Patrick has said in the past that there's a lot at play with making a decision.

"It comes to money. And it also comes down to what I want to do. Moving parts -- and answers that have yet to come to fruition. But that's what I have to answer. I have to answer, do I want to do this? It is a grind. My only goal is to win. So, if I think I have the opportunity, then, it will definitely be something that I will evaluate."
NASCAR has also gotten involved, and his trying to help secure a sponsorship for its most marketable personality.
