Two of the national NASCAR series are in action this weekend for a trip to Talladega Superspeedway.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series teams will be on track Friday and Saturday. Cup Series teams will return from the lone off-week for on-track sessions on Saturday and Sunday. ARCA Menards Series teams will also be at Talladega for a Saturday race.
Craftsman Truck Series teams are off this week after Tyler Ankrum won last weekend's race at Rockingham Speedway. The third-tier series will return at Texas Motor Speedway.
A key thing to remember for this weekend is that Xfinity Series and Cup Series teams do not have practice. They show up and go straight into qualifying.
Talladega Superspeedway forecast and weekend schedule
Friday forecast: The WeatherUnderground forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. A high of 83 degrees and a 21% chance of rain at the start of Xfinity Series qualifying.
Saturday forecast: The forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms in the morning. A high of 76 degrees and a 45% chance of rain at the start of Cup Series qualifying. A high of 82 degrees and a 22% chance of rain at the start of the Xfinity race.
Sunday forecast: The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with a chance of thunderstorms. A high of 85 degrees and a 15% chance of rain at the start of the Cup Series race.
