NASCAR weekend schedule, forecast for Indianapolis

The three national NASCAR series are in action at two different tracks in Indianapolis as part of a busy schedule.

Craftsman Truck Series teams will compete at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on Friday evening while pushing toward the end of the regular season. Xfinity Series teams will compete at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Saturday.

Cup Series teams will cap off the weekend with the return of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This race marks the return of former Cup competitors Ty Dillon, Jimmie Johnson, and BJ McLeod.

ARC Menards Series teams will also compete at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park as part of a Friday doubleheader.

Friday forecast: Plentiful sunshine with a high near 80 degrees.

Saturday forecast: Mostly sunny skies with a high of 79 degrees and no chance of rain at the start of the Xfinity race.

Sunday forecast: Mostly cloudy skies with a high of 79 degrees and a 2% chance of rain at the start of the Cup race.
