NASCAR has suspended Austin Hill after a wreck at Indianapolis Motor Speedway that sent Aric Almirola into the outside wall.
According to the weekly penalty report, Hill violated the Rule Book, specifically, Sections 4.3.A; 4.4.B & D: NASCAR Member Code of Conduct. As a result, he will have to serve a one-race suspension. He will miss this weekend's trip to Iowa Speedway before returning at Watkins Glen International.
Hill avoided any fines as NASCAR chose to only suspend him for his actions behind the wheel.

The wreck occurred with 10 laps remaining in Saturday's Xfinity Series race at the 2.5-mile track. Almirola used the bumper to move Hill, which sent the No. 21 Chevrolet sideways. Hill straightened the car and then turned left into the right rear of Almirola's No. 19 Toyota. This sent it hard into the outside wall.
Hill said after the incident that the hook that sparked the wreck was not intentional. NASCAR still held him for five laps during the race for reckless driving.
A spokesperson for NASCAR later told media members that they would take a deeper dive into the situation and that more penalties were possible.
The Georgia native also directed a profanity-laden rant toward NASCAR officials after learning of his five-lap penalty.
"They can go f*** themselves," Hill said over the radio. "F*** NASCAR. That is f***ing bulls**."
Another part of the penalty is a new addition to the NASCAR Rule Book. Hill will lose all 21 of the playoff points he earned by winning three races and six stages. He will also be unable to earn any more playoff points between now and the start of the Xfinity Series playoffs.
Hill's 21 playoff points were the third-most in the series. He trailed only Connor Zilisch (29) and Justin Allgaier (22).
Richard Childress Racing issued a statement on Tuesday evening and said it would not appeal the one-race suspension. The team will move forward with Austin Dillon replacing Hill in the No. 21 Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway.
