Weather forecast:

Saturday forecast: Cloudy skies in the morning followed by thunderstorms in the afternoon. A high of 74 degrees and a 39% chance of rain at the start of the Xfinity race. A high of 74 degrees and a 57% chance of rain at the start of Cup qualifying.

Saturday, Aug. 17, schedule (Eastern Time)

John Hunter Nemechek, who led Friday's practice session, won last season's Xfinity race at Michigan. He will be back in the lineup for Joe Gibbs Racing as he pulls double duty. He will aim to win his third Xfinity race of the season in his 11th start.

Nemechek and AJ Allmendinger are the only drivers in the Xfinity lineup with previous wins at Michigan. They represent the recent dominance of Chevrolet and Toyota drivers at the track, who have split the last 11 races.

Chris Buescher is the defending winner of the Cup Series race. He continues to seek his first win of this season, but he is the first driver above the playoff cutline with three races remaining in the regular season. He holds the tiebreaker over Ross Chastain, who is the first driver outside of a playoff spot.
