Two teams will temporarily move forward without crew members due to suspensions issued by NASCAR.
According to the weekly penalty report, the No. 66 Cup Series team and the No. 10 Xfinity Series team will each lose two crew members after their respective cars lost wheels at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The Garage 66 team will be without rear tire changer Brehanna Daniels and jackman Ethan Hindman for the next two Cup Series events as they serve suspensions. They will be eligible to return after the June 8 race at Michigan International Speedway.
The No. 10 team of Kaulig Racing will be without rear tire changer Jerick Newsome and jackman Richie Williams Jr. for the next two events as they serve their suspensions. They will be eligible to return after the June 14 race in Mexico City.
The Xfinity Series teams are idle the week of Michigan, so the next two events for Kaulig Racing will be at Nashville Superspeedway and Mexico City.
The No. 66 of Josh Bilicki experienced a wheel issue during the opening stage of the Coca-Cola 600. The No. 66 headed down pit road for its first green flag pit stop of the day. When Bilicki returned to the track, the right rear wheel detached.
The lost wheel on the track meant that Bilicki and the No. 66 team had to serve a two-lap penalty.
The No. 10 of Daniel Dye lost its wheel as the field was preparing for an overtime finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The left rear wheel detached from the Chevrolet Camaro and rolled down the track.
The replay showed that the wheel detached as Dye was swerving back and forth while warming his tires. The No. 10 suddenly spun toward the inside SAFER barrier.
"There it went," Dye said over the radio. "Nice playing with you guys today."
Dye was unable to continue in the race. He climbed from the stock car while the rest of the drivers in the field prepared for a two-lap shootout to the checkered flag.
