NASCAR Friday schedule at Kansas Speedway


The race weekend at Kansas Speedway kicks off on Friday as one series hits the track and another spends the afternoon in the garage area.

The ARCA Menards Series teams will take part in practice and qualifying at the 1.5-mile track. They will then race for the fourth time this season.

Craftsman Truck Series teams will have garage hours and technical inspections. They will not hit the track until Saturday afternoon.

The Friday evening race marks the first of two trips to Kansas Speedway for the ARCA Menards Series. The season's penultimate race will also take place at the 1.5-mile track.

Friday forecast: The WeatherUnderground forecast calls for sunny skies throughout the day. A high of 74 degrees and no chance of rain at the start of the ARCA Menards Series race.

Friday, May 9, schedule (Eastern Time)

  • 8 a.m. -- ARCA Menards Series garage hours
  • 3:30 - 8:30 p.m. -- Truck Series garage hours
  • 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. -- ARCA Menards Series optional open practice (No TV)
  • 5 - 5:45 p.m. -- ARCA Menards Series practice (No TV)
  • 6 - 6:20 p.m. -- ARCA Menards Series qualifying (No TV)
  • 8 p.m. -- ARCA Menards Series race (100 laps, 150 miles. FS1, Radio coverage on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio)

Entry list: The ARCA Menards Series on-track sessions will feature 26 drivers. None of these drivers has celebrated a win at Kansas Speedway, but many have experience racing there.

The entry list features a new addition. Xfinity Series veteran Ryan Vargas will join Maples Motorsports for his second start of the season. He will drive the No. 67 Ford Mustang again after previously controlling it at Phoenix Raceway.

The ARCA Menards Series season: The ARCA Menards Series season only features 20 events. The teams have completed three this season.

Brenden "Butterbean" Queen won at Daytona International Speedway to kick off the year. Brent Crews then won at Phoenix Raceway. Lawless Alan scored the win at Talladega Superspeedway.
