Two NASCAR Cup teams add new spotters for Coca-Cola 600

The NASCAR Cup Series' longest race will feature two drivers working with new spotters due to significantly different reasons.

The No. 20 team will have Matt Philpott guiding Christopher Bell as he tries to win his second consecutive Coca-Cola 600. Philpott will replace Stevie Reeves moving forward for the rest of the season.

The No. 6 team will have Todd Brewer stepping in to guide Brad Keselowski as he tries to win his second Coca-Cola 600 since the 2020 season.

Bell won last weekend's All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, which served as his final race with Reeves on the track roof. This change ends a partnership that began several years ago.

Reeves took over as Bell's spotter in 2020 as the Oklahoma native moved up to the Cup Series to join Leavine Family Racing. They remained together in 2021 and beyond as Bell moved to Joe Gibbs Racing to drive the No. 20.

Reeves and Bell have celebrated 12 wins together, which includes high-profile playoff races at the Charlotte Roval, Martinsville Speedway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

This will be a temporary move for the No. 6 team. TJ Majors, Keselowski's usual spotter, announced on this week's "Dale Jr. Download" that he will miss some time after previously being absent at Darlington Raceway.

"I got a little procedure coming up this weekend," Majors said. "I'll be out for probably about a month. ...Hopefully, I'll be back for good after that and won't have to worry about it anymore."

Majors did not provide any details about his medical procedure, but he joked that he will get a "face lift" and "nose job" done.

Majors has been with Keselowski since the 2021 season. He started the year with Joey Logano, but Team Penske swapped spotters ahead of a race at Michigan International Speedway. This move has since become permanent as Majors and Keselowski have celebrated one win together.
