'NASCAR 25' gets release date, first teaser trailer

Racing fans will soon be able to fire up their home consoles and take on their favorite tracks with their favorite drivers. NASCAR and iRacing have released the first teaser trailer and release date for the "NASCAR 25" video game.

The teaser trailer, while brief, provided the first in-game footage of the iRacing's first standalone console game. It showed a quick glimpse of William Byron's No. 24 Axalta Chevrolet racing around Bristol Motor Speedway. As the virtual stock car raced past the fixed camera, it made contact with the SAFER barrier and knocked dirt into the air.

The trailer ended with the official release date announcement. "NASCAR 25" will become available for purchase on Oct. 14, 2025. This release date falls between the Round of 8 races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

According to a January announcement, this standalone video game will feature four racing series. The Cup Series will headline the video game. Gamers will also have access to the Xfinity Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series.

All four series will be available for quick races, multiplayer sessions, and season-long campaigns as gamers manage their teams and race for championships.

The teaser trailer did not provide the list of consoles that will feature "NASCAR 25" in October. However, the Sports Business Journal noted that the video game will first land on the Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 before eventually heading to PC via the Steam marketplace.

NASCAR and iRacing have not revealed exactly which drivers, schemes, and teams will be part of the first console game since 2021's bug-riddled "NASCAR 21: Ignition." The two companies will reveal this at a future date.

Regardless of when this announcement takes place, the anticipation for this console game will only continue to grow as racing fans hope that "NASCAR 25" can overshadow the mistakes of the past.

"When we were approached with the option to acquire the license for the simulation-style NASCAR console game, which was the console game and franchise that we were dreaming about doing, it was an opportunity we couldn't pass up," said iRacing President Tony Gardner in 2023.

"Having the ability to build a NASCAR console game is a privilege we promise to execute with the utmost care. We look forward to working diligently with NASCAR industry stakeholders to deliver a product that provides an amazing experience for the gaming community and NASCAR fans worldwide."
