Meyer Shank Racing locks up rising driver for 2026

Meyer Shank Racing is putting its lineup together for the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series season. The team has confirmed that Marcus Armstrong will return.

According to a Monday announcement, the 25-year-old New Zealand native will return to the No. 66 Honda entry for his second full season. He will aim to build upon a stat line that includes 10 top-10 finishes this season and a podium at Iowa Speedway.

"We're thrilled to have Marcus back for 2026," said Mike Shank, co-owner of Meyer Shank Racing. "He's really grown a lot this season and we're seeing that in his results as the season has gone on.

"His performance this year has shown that he has all the tools to fight at the front. We're excited to continue building on this progress together."

Armstrong, the winner of four FIA Formula 2 races, kicked off his IndyCar career with Chip Ganassi Racing. He won Rookie of the Year in 2023 after posting five top-10 finishes and then he scored his first podium finish the following season on the streets of Detroit. He ended the season 14th in the standings.

Armstrong made the move to Meyer Shank Racing to kick off this season, and he took over the No. 66 for the full schedule.

He is ninth in the championship standings with two races remaining in the season. He is only two points back of Colton Herta and six points back of teammate Felix Rosenqvist.

Armstrong will have opportunities to gain another position in the standings as he heads to Milwaukee and Nashville. He will then prepare for another season in the No. 66, which he will use to pursue more podium finishes.

"I'm very pleased and grateful to be back with Meyer Shank Racing and my crew for 2026," Armstrong said.

"The professionalism and attention to detail is a benchmark throughout the field and we have certainly improved with time together which has been great. We'll look to build on our momentum and work hard to climb the points standings."
