As of 2021, there are a total of 17 full-time teams in the NASCAR Cup Series. Now, each team is limited to a maximum of four race cars in each of the NASCAR national series, so teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart Haas Racing, and Hendrick Motorsports happily run as many cars as they can.

Each of these teams will use only one of the three manufacturing companies — Ford, Chevy, and Toyota — for their race cars. Even if they’re on the same team, different numbers are used to distinguish each individual driver on the track, as well as the crew chief for that driver. While there are also a number of NASCAR teams that compete in the Xfinity Series and Truck Series, here we’ll just break down the teams and drivers that run a full Cup Series schedule.
