Longtime crew chief Dave Elenz and Legacy Motor Club are parting ways as one of multiple competition changes at the NASCAR Cup Series organization.
Legacy Motor Club announced the news Tuesday morning and detailed how the crew chief lineup will change heading to the Charlotte Roval weekend.
Elenz is the second crew chief to part ways with Legacy MC this season. Jason Burdett and the team parted ways during the Olympic break.
"Legacy MC and Dave Elenz have parted ways, and the organization would like to thank Dave for his stewardship of the No. 43 over the past three seasons," the statement said. "In continuation of the competition realignment, Ben Beshore will move to the No. 43 team as crew chief for Erik Jones.
"Newly appointed Technical Director, Brian Campe, will serve as interim crew chief for the No. 42 of John Hunter Nemechek effective this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway."
Elenz had been the crew chief for the No. 43 team since the start of the 2022 season. He made the move to Legacy Motor Club -- then Petty GMS Motorsports -- after seven seasons and 15 wins in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports.
Elenz and Jones achieved some success together in their first season. The No. 43 team posted 12 top-10 finishes and three top-fives. Jones won the Southern 500 crown jewel race for the second time in his career.
The last two seasons have been more challenging as the organization has morphed into Legacy Motor Club and then moved to Toyota Racing. Jones posted seven top-10 finishes and one top-five last season while his average finish fell from 16.3 to 20.4.
This season, Jones has one top-five finish and two top-10s in 29 races. He missed two races while recovering from a back injury.
Beshore has been atop the pit box for the No. 42 team since the start of the season. He moved to Legacy Motor Club with Nemechek after winning seven Xfinity races last season. This marked Beshore's return to the Cup Series after two seasons with Kyle Busch (2021-22) and three wins.
Nemechek and the No. 42 team have posted three top-10 finishes this season. Their average finish is 25.3.
