Las Vegas Sphere unveils incredible F1 advertisement

Formula One returns to Las Vegas on Nov. 21-23, so the city is using an impressive piece of technology as an advertisement.

The Las Vegas Sphere, the massive entertainment and concert venue, featured an F1-style design on Tuesday. The outside resembled a racing tire, which spun with increasing speed. The sound of an F1 car served as the soundtrack for the unique display.

"I worked on it for launch last year," a former "render wrangler" posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. "I helped manage getting the renders process.

"The outside are all 8K LED panels, the inside are all 16k LED panels. That is how it's lit, even during the day. I can't imagine the heat generated by these bad boys. The cooling system must be nuts!"

This is not the first time that the Las Vegas Sphere has featured an F1 advertisement. It also did so last year before the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, which champion Max Verstappen won after leading 29 of the 50 laps.

While F1 and the FIA barred the Sphere from showing colors associated with danger on the track during the race, the piece of the city landscape still turned heads with its designs. One, in particular, featured the yellow smiley face wearing a racing helmet and watching the cars.

The Sphere also played a major role in the advertising efforts. During the night race, it featured logos for Google Chrome, American Express, Heineken, Netflix, Puma, Virgin Hotels, and T-Mobile.

The Las Vegas Sphere even showed photos of each driver as they completed laps in qualifying. This provided bystanders with more information throughout the race weekend.

The race weekend will begin on Thursday, Nov. 21. The cars will first take on the track during practice at 6:30-7:30 p.m. PT. The second practice will take place from 10-11 p.m. PT. Qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix will take place Friday, Nov. 22, from 10-11 p.m. PT.

The main event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23.  The Las Vegas Grand Prix will begin at 10 p.m. PT with a scheduled end time of midnight. ESPN will provide coverage for the United States-based fans.
