CONCORD, N.C. -- The first attempt at The Double did not go as planned, so Kyle Larson will give it another shot in 2025.
Hendrick Motorsports and Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team announced Tuesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway that Larson will once again attempt to complete both the Indy 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day, May 25, 2025.
Larson will drive the No. 17 entry for Arrow McLaren during the biggest race on the NTT IndyCar Series schedule and then he will return to Concord to drive his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in a Cup Series crown jewel.
"We have some unfinished business to try and win the Indy 500 and, of course, the NASCAR race a couple hours following," said Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, during an announcement at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Weather disrupted Larson's first attempt at the feat, one that only Tony Stewart has completed. Rainfall at Indianapolis Motor Speedway delayed the start of the Indy 500 and forced Hendrick Motorsports to make a decision.
Larson could either stay and compete in the Indy 500 and miss the start of the Coca-Cola 600, or he could leave and attempt The Double in another season.
Larson and HMS made the decision to remain in Indy. The 2021 Cup Series champion lined up fifth and he contended for a top-10 finish. However, a speeding penalty led to him ending the day in 18th place.
Meanwhile, Justin Allgaier started the Coca-Cola 600 in the driver's seat of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro. He started at the rear of the field but worked his way into the top 13 over the first 249 laps.
Larson arrived at the race track with an opportunity to replace Allgaier in the entry, but rain at Charlotte Motor Speedway forced NASCAR to throw the red flag. The race never restarted as Christopher Bell was declared the winner and Larson officially missed his first race since the 2020 season.
The California native will now have another opportunity to complete all 500 miles of the Indy 500 and all 600 miles of the Coca-Cola 600.
"It was really cool to do the Indy 500 this season," Larson said. "But yeah, to me, it's all about getting those 1,100 miles."
